Hazy Day? Aim Low

Sensor: Canon 6D
Location: Chicago Botanical Gardens, IL USA

Chicago-2013-3968
We went to the Botanical Gardens in Chicago  for a few hours before my flight back to SFO.  It was a hazy July day which forced me to take other types of pictures than ones that I usually take.  The skies were completely overcast, which meant no dramatic or interesting landscapes.    I looked for scenes that allowed me to completely eliminate the sky and started looking to shoot things near my feet.  For the picture above, I used a zoom lens in the photo above to frame the scene appropriately and used a polarizer to cut out the reflections on the water and give  good saturated colors to the flowers and lily pads.

How the photo was taken:  100mm, f/4, 1/200 sec, 100 ISO, c-pol filter
